December 11th 2022. Leaving my Belgrade, cold and windy. Excited to visit Portugal for the first time. After exploring Europe and the Canary Islands, USA and Balkan region, my next stop was south of the country that will later become my second home. Eager to enjoy the beauty of this unexplored part of Europe and meet up with my new boyfriend, I didn’t realize that this world is so small…
On the way to the airport exit, I heard a male voice from the man that was on the same flight. “Аre you from Serbia?” It turns out that this guy (now my friend) was also from Serbia, living in Algarve for more than 20 years and playing tennis with my boyfriend. Ha! Nice wellcome, I thought.
After a couple of moments, I embraced both Ivan and Portugal, at the same time. That was quite a romantic beginning and first of numerous visits that was about to follow.
Main spot was Faro, the place where you really feel at home. Having in mind the huge city in which I was born, this town has all main advantages that made me fall in love in every corner and feel its calmness.
First morning at a local cafe under the sun, having my espresso and of course, very famous, his Majesty – Pastel de nata.
Exquisite taste with moments of warm, crispy and puff pastry filled with sweet cream, dusted with cinnamon. Mmmmm… Immediately that boosted my first impression and pleasure in Faro.
That fabulous day just confirmed my first impression. Long stretch of soft, golden sand of Praia de Faro and beautiful blue ocean sparkled by sun just turned this journey to poetry. Magnificent sunset completed the first day as well as the following ones in the beautiful Algarve.
